today’s song dot land feels the darkness of the winter solstice season. there’s a reason for the season: everyone needs more light. i personally am doing well, though i felt the weight of a friend’s self-harm. recorded 2025-12-15.
life is hard, do not give up.
“in the same place where my cat lies.” a pack of roving dogs really did end the living season for my cat this year. it took three months after it happened to learn the perpetrator. she is loved and missed.
there is something about the South where i live, life seems hard while the land is plentiful. ancestors birthed the blues on this land. let’s go out and breathe fresh air.
the image comes from the winter solstice 2025 itself, another example of the death that surrounds (and in fact restores life, enables life). this deer, the victim of a busy road at least the day before, carrion cleaned by scavengers as the winter solstice reflects in the lens.
