cranefly

welcome to song dot land, recorded on 2026-03-19 and 2026-03-20—the vernal equinox and first day of spring. i improvised based on an photograph i captured and a short poem i wrote regarding a crane fly, a subtle insect climbing above ground each spring for only a few weeks, dancing above misty grass in evening light to find love. “i opened my eyes and a world appears” comes from michael pollan’s a world appears.

i enjoyed this book and it struck me, this is what i’ve been singing about for my life and especially since song dot land: consciousness.

two improvisations on the same subject are in this recording, recording across two days.

i am grateful to live and share with you.
